Abstract

The Balai Penerapan Standar Instrumen Pertanian (BPSIP) of North Sumatra previously recorded the official travel and daily activities of its head and staff manually, which caused inaccurate data, delayed reports, and limited real-time access to information. This article reports the design and development of a website-based information system for recapitulating official travel and daily activities at BPSIP North Sumatra, carried out through a work-practice program. System development followed a structured design approach comprising requirement analysis, process design, database design, and interface design. The system design used Unified Modeling Language diagrams, namely use case, activity, and sequence diagrams, together with a relational database consisting of user, official-travel, and daily-activity tables. The resulting website provides features for account registration and login, an interactive dashboard, official-travel and daily-activity forms, data tables with edit and delete functions, and profile management for both admin and user roles. The system replaces manual recording with a structured, real-time, and easily accessible process, enabling the head of the balai to monitor activities directly and supporting more responsive administrative decision-making. The system is expected to improve the accuracy, transparency, and efficiency of official-travel and daily-activity documentation at BPSIP North Sumatra.
