Edukasi Potensi Masyarakat dalam Pengelolaan Persampahan yang Efektif Tepat Guna dan Bernilai Ekonomis

The rapid population growth in Kutalimbaru Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency, has increased the volume of household waste, while Sampe Cita Village the site designated for the Al-Amin Living Lab and Industrial Park of Universitas Pembangunan Panca Budi (UNPAB) still lacks an adequate waste management system, facilities, and community awareness for proper waste handling. This community service activity aimed to improve public understanding of effective and economically valuable waste management as a foundation for planning the waste system of the Al-Amin Living Lab and Industrial Park. The activity was carried out in Glugur Rimbun, Sampe Cita Village, from February to March 2024 through lectures and discussions supported by field observation of existing waste-handling practices. Twenty-eight residents participated with the support of the village head and village officials. The results show increased community understanding across three indicators: the waste management system (from 10 to 20), waste-generating activities (from 15 to 25), and waste separation (from 15 to 25), with an overall comprehension achievement of 80%. These findings indicate that a locally grounded, dialogue-based education approach can build community readiness to support more effective and economically valuable waste separation, collection, and transport practices ahead of the development of the Al-Amin Living Lab and Industrial Park.
