Sosialisasi Perancangan Bangunan Gedung Fasilitas Pendidikan Pesantren Radjasyah Medan

Abstract

Pesantren Radjasyah in Medan Tuntungan, Medan City, is a former outbound site that its owner intends to develop into a religious education institution. However, the area is still poorly organized: several buildings were constructed without prior planning, the student cabins are used beyond their intended capacity, parking and circulation space is limited, and the existing ponds are not maintained. This community partnership program aimed to give the owner and administrators an understanding of design concepts and area planning, and to present alternative layouts for buildings and open spaces. Between September and December 2021, the team carried out field observation, interviews, problem analysis, solution formulation, counselling and socialization with discussion, and follow-up observation for evaluation. The main outcome is a design proposal that divides the area into two zones and includes a boys' dormitory, a girls' dormitory, boys' classrooms, a parents' guesthouse, an amphitheatre, and a landscaped pond garden with selected vegetation. These results are design proposals communicated to the partner; physical implementation and evaluation results are not reported. The activity provides the partner with a planning concept and design visualization as a basis for developing educational facilities in the area.
