Abstract

PLN City Forest and Beringin Park are green open spaces that hold significant potential as public areas for the community of Medan City. However, their utilization remains suboptimal; PLN City Forest is relatively less popular than Beringin Park, and several existing facilities in Beringin Park have deteriorated, requiring immediate revitalization. This study aims to redesign and integrate the two parks to enhance accessibility and expand public recreational areas. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing field observations and literature reviews for data collection. The proposed design integrates the two zones through the construction of an inter-park connecting bridge. Furthermore, the redesign encompasses the revitalization of the ±3-hectare existing site alongside the introduction of new amenities. These include Cafe Mori (featuring both indoor and outdoor seating), a reading pavilion, public reading lounges, and the installation of outdoor book stations at various strategic locations. Through this spatial integration and facility enhancement, both parks are expected to function more optimally, inclusively, and comfortably for all visitors.
